Verbots are animated characters that can be programmed to answer a wide variety of questions using a simple but powerful scripting interface. The Verbot is Conversive’s oldest brand, and was our original product back in 1997. Since that time we have refocused our company on providing web-based solutions to large commercial problems, but we realized that we missed the Verbots, and a lot of people wrote to us to say that they felt the same way. We decided that we needed to bring back the Verbot, but in an updated form. People agreed. In less than one year, Verbots were adopted by tens of thousands of users.

Verbots are designed to be easy to script, graphically flexible, stable and powerful.

If you can speak a human language, you can script a Verbot! All scripting takes place in plain text, and the Verbot platform will support any language that can be written with an ASCII keyboard.

Microsoft Agent provides the format for the characters that speak the responses that are programmed into your Verbot. Many, many characters have been created in the Microsoft Agent format, and there are a number of sites where characters in this format can be downloaded for free. You can even create your own!

The Verbot download contains a standard English voice for use with the standard Verbot character, Julia. However, there are a number of different custom voices that can be downloaded, both from the Verbots site and from others

Verbots are written in Microsoft .NET, so that they can be relatively small and easily downloaded but still have powerful features when loaded into the .NET runtime environment. They are a robust and stable program that doesn’t put a high overhead burden on your system and never contains adware or spyware.

More than 5,000 Verbot enthusiasts have signed up to be part of our Verbots Forum. In this part of the Verbots site users can exchange tips on scripting, talk about their latest projects and get technical advice from the folks at Conversive who created the Verbot.

Over 30 different knowledge bases are available for download on the Verbot site, so you can see what other hobbyists and developers are doing with the Verbot technology, and add to the fun and functionality of your own Verbot. Knowledge bases range from the practical to the downright silly, including everything from personal web assistants to bartenders and fortune tellers. There is never a charge to download a knowledge base.

The Verbot Standard Edition provides all the tools that you need to read and write Verbot knowledge bases and, if you wish, to post them on Verbots.com for others to try as well. The Verbot Standard Edition comes with the advanced Verbot scripting interface that allows for scripting XML knowledge bases in plain text, editing of synonyms, a skin editor, a built-in test environment, and much more. The Verbot Standard Edition is available for a nominal, one-time fee.

The Verbot Player enables you to read any Verbot Knowledge Base, and use any character or voice that is compatible with the Verbot format. Since there are scores of characters in Microsoft Agent, and a constantly growing number of Verbot knowledge bases, this Player provides a lot to play with. There is no charge to download Verbot player.
